Poet of the Palestinians, Mahmud Darwish has died in a U.S hospital following open-heart surgery.
The 67-year-old writer was widely considered one of the Arab world's greatest poets, Darwish has been harshly critical of Israel and was detained several times. He received numerous international literary awards during his career.
